Melinda Kojancie keeps Erie working. She does this as District Manager of Kelly Services, a global provider of workforce solutions and a leader in the industry. Erie companies and organizations turn to Kelly for assistance with their staffing needs — in both good and bad economies. Kojancie is known for her ability to match skilled employees with businesses whether on a temporary, temp-to-hire, or direct-hire basis.
How has living in Erie influenced your career?
I used to think that living in Erie would restrict my career, but I have come to see that the opposite is true. Erie has lot to offer because of its unique size. It has that small-town feel, with the opportunities of a large-city. It is also a strong networking community, and I have been able to capitalize on the relationships made throughout my life.
How did you become involved with Kelly Services?
In 2010, the previous district manager recruited me. Having been in the staffing profession for a few years, I was aware of Kelly's reputation as an industry leader. I felt Kelly was a company I could grow with professionally.
Right away, I felt the positive team atmosphere. I rely on my team, especially staffing industry veteran, Patty Sciarrilli, senior staffing supervisor at Kelly and one of the reasons Kelly has seen such a high level of success in the Erie market.
What makes Kelly Services unique in Erie?
Although Kelly Services has become a world leader in the area of staffing, we are excited to be able to tailor the services of a Fortune 500 company to serve the unique needs of the Erie area community. The Kelly team has been serving the needs of businesses and job seekers in Erie since 1966.
Most notable in the Erie market is Kelly's substitute teaching program, Kelly Educational Staffing. We've partnered with school districts in the area, providing qualified substitute teachers that maintain continuity in the classroom. As a professional and a mother, I'm proud to be a part of an organization that contributes to the academic achievement and success of our local students.
We have also formed strong partnerships with Erie businesses in the engineering environment. I think sometimes new graduates don't realize how much there is happening on Erie's job front. We are proud to offer a variety of engineering opportunities that have been able to help keep the local engineering talent local.
What has been a key to your success?
I refuse to give less than my absolute best. I will do whatever it takes to be the best that I can possibly be; for myself, my family and for the company that employs me.
What guides your career path?
My career moves have been based more on the quality of people that I am working with. Working for Kelly Services is truly a rewarding experience. I love being able to connect people to challenging and satisfying careers while meeting the needs of customers and the community.Melinda Kojancie keeps Erie working.
