Ty and Jacquie were both raised in the Fairview-Girard area. They knew it would be the perfect place to raise their children. They were looking to invest in a local business that would grow along with their family. The Avonia Tavern — being a landmark in the area — was the perfect fit. "Thirteen years later, I would say we made the right choice," says Ty. "It was important for us to maintain the integrity of the restaurant. Our goal was to keep and perfect all of the recipes that had made Avonia so popular for the last 60 years," says Jacquie.

While continuing to serve Avonia's famous wings and homemade ribs, the owners are constantly adding new features. The extensive menu ranges from burgers, salads, and pizzas to steaks, seafood, and many homemade dinners. There are also a variety of homemade soups available daily. They take pride in the Avonia and are always striving to improve the overall customer experience.

In addition to Avonia's tremendous volume of repeat customers, the restaurant has become a destination point all year round. Campers in the summer, fisherman in the Spring and Fall, hunters and football fans enjoying their favorite foods while watching their favorite teams on the NFL ticket.

"We are definitely invested in our community," says Jacquie. Teachers, coaches, students and their families meet at The Avonia before and after school functions and events. Generation after generation, people seem to find their way back to Avonia. “After all these years, so many customers have become like our extended family,” says Jacquie, “and we hope that family continues to grow.”
