On September 16, 1938, the original charter for the Sportsmen's Athletic Club was established. The same founding philosophies and principles established then are still fostered today. The club was founded for the purpose of promoting wholesome recreation, social activity and good fellowship though a variety sports and activities. “Our overall goal is to encourage young people in their pursuit of healthy activities throughout their daily life,” states manager Lisa Light. “Now approaching our 75th anniversary, this private social club has approximately 1,100 members and continues to experience growth.”

The Sportsmen's Athletic Club of Millcreek strives to give back to the community. “We desire to educate youth and enhance their concept of sportsmanship across all realms of their life. This is where we want to focus our giving,” states Light. “All of our donations are locally based, and we constantly strive to give back.”

“We are involved with a variety of groups in the area including Millcreek schools and the MS Society. We donate funds to support the band and athletic programs at schools such as McDowell. And we work closely with the Multiple Sclerosis Society to help raise awareness and funding throughout each year,” adds Light. The Sportsmen Athletic Club of Millcreek also hosts an annual golf outing in order to generate funds for different causes.

Members of all ages can participate in a variety of social activities and events such as the Soapbox Derby and End of World Party, which set them apart from others in the area. In addition to offering private banquets, unique events and great lunch and dinner specials for members, the Sportsmen Athletic Club of Millcreek is open to the public during lunch hours, offering a non-smoking dining atmosphere, Monday through Friday.
